Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Yutang Village of Banka, Yongde County, Yunnan. It was named by Lan Chaohua in 1983.


Lithology and Thickness

Limestone. Lower part consists of gray-white and light-gray very thick-bedded massive spotted limestone intercalated with oolitic limestone; 166 m thick. Upper part is of gray-white, light-gray and gray thick-bedded limestone intercalated with oolitic limestone and bioclastic limestone; 152 m thick. It is intercalated with basalt, shale and minor siliceous nodules around the Mengyongxiang Bamboo Forest and Pamang of Gengma County.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Shidongsi Fm

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Permian Caobashantou Fm (not in Permian Lexicon); or in Gengma region a disconformity with overlying Kungurian-age Damingshan Fm.

Fossils

Lower part contains Fusulinids Triticites parvulus, Schwagerina sp. and Quasifusulina sp.; Corals Campophyllum sp., etc. Upper part contains Fusulinids Pseudoschwagerina sp., Hemifusulina sp., Quasifusulina sp., etc.,
